  • How to Write a WordPress Blog Post With AI

Maintaining a blog on your WordPress site is essential for providing valuable content to your readers. Also, blog posts can help your site appear on search engine ranking pages (SERPs) when written well. In the past, those without good writing skills would have to hire someone to write their posts or, worse, not have a blog. Thanks to artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT and Divi AI, you can harness this new technology to help craft your posts for you. In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to write a WordPress blog post with AI.

    Let’s get started.

    What is WordPress?

    WordPress.org

WordPress is a popular content management system (CMS) that is utilized on more than 43% of all websites on the internet. It started as a blog platform in the late 90s and has evolved into a website-building powerhouse used by freelancers, web agencies, and large corporations. There are two types of WordPress. .org and .com. While they are built by the same people, there are some differences. So everything is clear, we will be working in WordPress.org, which is self-hosted and comes with nearly unlimited customization options.

    What is AI?

    Divi AI image

AI is the development of computers that use machine learning to achieve tasks that would normally require humans to do. AI can train these systems to generate images, text, video, music, and more. This type of AI is called generative AI, which involves intensive training between two systems, or generative adversarial networks (GANs), containing a discriminator and a generator. They work together to compare the generator’s output to the data the system was trained on. For example, during image generation, the generator presents output to the discriminator, which tries to determine if it’s real or fake. As training continues, the generator will be better at output, so the discriminator can’t tell the difference between the two.

Some of the more popular AI text and image generators like Divi AI, Jasper, Writesonic, and ChatGPT have many uses, including writing blog posts, creating realistic images, and more.

    What is Divi AI?

    Divi AI

Divi AI is the newest, most exciting product launch in recent memory. Based on Stable Diffusion and Open AI models, Divi AI can write content and generate images right inside the Visual Builder. That said, Divi AI is built a bit differently than other generative AI. Made specifically for Divi, it understands all of Divi’s design elements and can make suggestions for text and images based on the associated content on the page. For example, if your page is about a Maine Coon cattery, Divi AI will suggest text related to Maine Coon cats. This incredible new tech will make creating Divi websites easier than ever!

How to Write a WordPress Blog Post With AI

With all of the AI technology available to WordPress users today, there are several ways to create a blog post using AI. However, for this post, we will concentrate on two routes. The first uses Divi AI, and the other uses ChatGPT and Midjourney.

Regardless of the method used, using the Gutenberg editor to create blog posts is recommended. The primary reason for this is that full site editing themes like Divi or Twenty Twenty-Three allow you to create templates to showcase your site’s content. We won’t go into detail about Gutenberg here, but this post outlines how to get around in the block editor. If you’re a Divi user already, you’ll be happy to know that we released improved compatibility with the block editor back in 2022 by introducing the Divi layout block. It allows you to use the Gutenberg editor and Divi Builder simultaneously, which will be needed to use Divi AI.

    Creating a Template

Before creating your first post, you’ll need to learn how to create a template using Gutenberg or Divi. When your template is created, you can get down to business.

Step 1: Crafting the Blog Post Outline

We’ll outline the steps to create a blog outline using ChatGPT. While this step isn’t necessary, it will help you form your thoughts and give you a structure for AI to follow. If you haven’t already, sign up for an account with ChatGPT. Version 3.5 is free, but you must sign up for a paid plan for the more advanced version. For our post, we want to feature the dog-like qualities of Maine Coon cats, so we’ll use the following prompt: Create a blog post outline describing how Maine Coon cats are like dogs.

ChatGPT will get to work on creating an outline for our post:

    ChatGPT blog outline

Step 2: Create a New Post

To create a new post, log into your WordPress dashboard, then navigate to posts (1). Next, click the Add New button (2) to create your first post.

    add new blog post

Next, we’ll need to add a title to our post (1). Let’s use the one generated with ChatGPT: The Canine Charm of Maine Coon Cats: Unveiling Their Dog-Like Traits.
If using Divi, click the default editor button (2) to load Gutenberg.

    WordPress blog post editor

    Step 3: Writing the Intro

With the post created, the first step is to add an intro paragraph.

    Using ChatGPT

Creating an introductory paragraph is simple using ChatGPT. Head back to the interface and write the prompt: Create an introductory paragraph using the outline above. Keep it under 300 words, briefly touch on the points in the outline, and give it a human tone of voice.

Now, you can do one of two things here. You can copy and paste the generated paragraph or use it to aid you in creating original content. Because we want to keep things ethical, we’ll change the introductory paragraph by using the generated output merely as a guide.

    ChatGPT intro paragraph

Paste the output into the default editor by adding a paragraph block. To do this, click the + icon (1) in the page builder or navigate to the list view (2) to add a paragraph block there.

    adding a block

    Using Divi Within Gutenberg

We’ll need to set things up differently if using Divi. We’ll use Divi to create our post rather than adding a paragraph block to add content. The initial process is the same, except for the block. Click the + icon (1), then search for and add the Divi Layout block (2).

    Divi Layout block

Next, click the Build New Layout button.

    build new layout

To create our new layout, we’ll build it from scratch. Click the Start Building button to continue.

    start building with Divi

    Choose the single column row.

Getting Familiar With the Divi AI Interface

Generating text with Divi AI is a snap. To start, click the Generate Content with AI button (1) or hover over the placeholder text to reveal the AI icon (2). You’ll have two options: Write with AI (3) or Write Automatically (4). Choosing the automatic option will generate text automatically. This is an excellent feature for posts and pages with content you want to expand on. For this case, however, we’ll choose to write with AI. This will allow us to give Divi some context.

    Divi blog post AI

You’ll notice a new dialog box with a few features when your screen refreshes. Let’s briefly explain what each setting does:

    1. Content Type: This allows you to generate a paragraph, title, button, blog post, or social media post.
    2. What are you writing about: Use this to give Divi a starting point for your text.
    3. Added Context: If you’ve started creating your post already, you can use this to give Divi context. Options include this page content, this section content, this module content, or no context.
    4. Tone of Voice: Choose the writing style you prefer from the available options: creative, informative, and funny.
    5. Must use keywords: Add important keywords to your text.
    6. Content length: Specify how many words, sentences, characters, paragraphs, or list items you require.
    7. Language: Here, you can specify the language. You can either use the language of your prompt or choose from over 130 supported languages.
    8. Generate Text: Generate text with Divi AI.

    Divi AI options

    Generating Text with Divi AI

To generate our first paragraph, we’ll choose the following options:

    1. Content type: Paragraph
    2. What are you writing about: Write an introductory paragraph about how Maine Coon cats have dog-like qualities
    3. Added Context: No context
    4. Tone of Voice: Creative
    5. Must use keywords: Maine Coon, dog-like
    6. Content length: Exactly 200 words
    7. Language: Language of prompt

With the settings in place, click the generate button to produce the text. Divi will create the text based on your prompt. If you are satisfied with the results, click the Use this text button (1). Alternatively, if you want to make changes, you can modify the output by clicking retry (2) or by selecting the improve with AI dropdown menu (3). You can make it better, rephrase, lengthen, shorten, simplify, paraphrase, or modify it by changing the tone of voice, amongst other options. If you’d like to refine it, you can add more details in refine result (4) text field, then click regenerate (5).

    refine generated text Divi AI

Step 4: Creating Blog Post Images

The next step is to create an image for our post. After all, blog posts are better with supporting photos. They provide visual aids, keep your readers engaged, and serve as a way to boost your site’s search engine optimization (SEO) using alt tags.

We’ll showcase two ways to generate images for your WordPress blog post: Midjourney and Divi AI.

    Using Midjourney

    Midjourney

    image created with Midjourney

Midjourney hit the scene earlier this year and has become one of the most popular platforms for creating images. We won’t go into the steps to use it here, as we have an in-depth tutorial already created for you. Midjourney generates some of the most incredible AI art you’ll find. However, we should caution you on using it commercially. Due to ongoing litigation, its future is unclear. That said, generating images with it is likely ok if you are a paid subscriber. This post concentrates on the second method, Divi AI.

    Using Divi AI

Another (and better) way to create images for your blog posts is by using Divi AI’s built-in image generation tool. It functions like the AI text generator, where you can create, refine, and use pictures within your posts or pages. Unlike other AI image generators, there’s no need to use a separate platform. With Divi AI, you get the power of Stable Diffusion right in the Visual Builder. To create an image using Divi AI, add an image module to your post.

    Divi image module

To activate AI, hover over the placeholder image in the module to reveal the AI icon.

    Divi AI icon

Upon clicking the icon, you’ll have two options: Generate with AI or Generate Automatically. Select the first option.

    Generate AI image

    Divi AI Image Settings

Before generating an image, let’s go over the settings so you’ll understand how things work. We won’t go over everything related to generating images, like prompting tips, but we will show you the basics.

    1. Image style: Choose from 13 style presets, including photo, digital painting, vector art, and more.
    2. Image description: The text prompt field you’ll use to describe your desired image.
    3. Reference image: If you have an image in mind that isn’t quite what you need, you can use it as a reference image to assist Divi AI in creating the perfect one.
    4. Aspect ratio: You can choose from square (1:1), Landscape (8:5), portrait (3:4), or a custom size.
    5. Size: The pixels (width x height) for your image.
    6. Generate: Generates an image based on the settings above.

Generate an Image Using Divi AI

Now that you know the interface, we can generate our first image. Since our blog post is about Maine Coon cats, we’ll generate an image that can be used in our post that we can also apply as our featured image. With the AI image dialog box opens, input the following settings:

    • Image style: Photo
    • Image description: photograph of a brown sortie Maine Coon cat, lying on a sofa, looking out the window, award winning photography, soft shadows, midday lighting, cinematic photography
    • Reference image: none
    • Aspect ratio: Landscape (8:5)
    • Size: 1280 x 800

With the settings in place, click the generate button to generate your photo.

    generate Divi image

When the process completes, Divi will provide four images for you. To choose one, click on your favorite (1), then click Use this image (2). Alternatively, you can generate more like it (3), generate four more (4), change the style (5), or add a completely new description (6) to regenerate it (7).

    image generation

Once you select a photo to use, Divi will automatically place it into your image module. From there, you can upscale it to make it a higher quality image by clicking the AI icon again and selecting upscale in the settings.

    upscale Divi AI image

Step 5: Writing the Post Content

Now that we’ve generated our title, introductory paragraph, and featured image, let’s walk through the steps needed to create the body copy.

    Using ChatGPT

To create the body of your blog post using ChatGPT, you’ll repeat the steps outlined above. Head back over to ChatGPT, then instruct it to complete the body of the post. You can do this by entering the following prompt: Based on the outline above, create the post content minus the conclusion. Make it no longer than 1500 words, and use the same tone of voice in the introductory paragraph.

    ChatGPT body copy

ChatGPT will proceed in creating the body copy for your post. As previously stated, you should use this text as a guide rather than simply copying and pasting it into your post. There are several reasons for this. First, ChatGPT has been known to suffer from hallucinations or falsehoods. Therefore, you should always fact-check everything it gives you. Secondly, Google is getting better at recognizing AI-generated content. This is a grey area since the technology is so new, but some indications using generated content without a human touch could hurt you in the SERPs.

Additionally, there will obviously be plagiarism concerns, especially since ChatGPT was training on information pulled directly from the internet. Lastly, generated content generally needs more creativity and personality. Therefore, we recommend taking what it gives you as a guide to overcoming writer’s block or for inspiration in more creative writing.

    Using Divi AI

Now that Divi AI has a bit of context, we can proceed one of two ways: use Divi AI to create the entire post or generate a few paragraphs at a time. The method you choose depends on whether you plan on making more images. If you only plan to have one image in your post, Divi can create your entire post for you. However, if you want to create additional supporting photos, you’ll need to create a few paragraphs at a time. To generate your entire post, activate Divi AI by adding a new text module and clicking the AI icon again. Choose blog post from the dropdown menu when the dialog box appears.

    write blog post with AI

In the What are you writing about text field, head back to ChatGPT to copy the blog outline we created in step 1, then paste it into the field. Be sure to omit the intro section.

    blog post context

Click guide me (1) to reveal the additional settings. Be sure to add your tone of voice (2), must use keywords (3), specify the number of words to generate (4), select the language (5), then generate your post (6).

    generate blog post

Tip: When generating content with Divi AI, add headlines for your important paragraphs. Also, use Divi AI’s word settings to keep paragraphs under 300 words. By doing this, you’ll achieve a higher SEO score with your chosen SEO plugin.

    Step 6: Writing the Conclusion

Writing the conclusion paragraph is the last step in creating your first post. If using ChatGPT, all you have to do is provide it a prompt to complete the post. For example, give it the following: Based on the outline above, write a conclusion paragraph in the same writing style.

    ChatGPT conclusion

    Write Conclusion with Divi AI

To create our conclusion paragraph, we’ll take a slightly different approach. Instead of leaving the context blank, for this last paragraph, we’ll have Divi write a conclusion based on the content of our post. To do this, add a new text module, then fill in the following settings:

    1. Content type: Paragraph
    2. What are you writing about: Summarize the various ways in which Maine Coon cats exhibit dog-like traits.
    3. Added context: this page content
    4. Tone of voice: Creative
    5. Must use keywords: Maine Coon cats
    6. Content length: About 250 words
    7. Language: Language of prompt

    Divi AI conclusion paragraph

That’s it! You’ve successfully created a well-written blog post with Divi AI.

The exciting thing about Divi AI is all of the features it encompasses. Unlike other AI software that typically provide one type of generative AI, Divi can do quite a few things.

    Auto-Generate Content

    Divi AI auto generate

Divi’s powerful AI algorithm can generate text, images, or entire modules with just one click. It works by analyzing the existing content on your website, then making recommendations based on what’s already there. Refine Existing Images

    AI improve image

Divi AI also can enhance existing images on your sites. Simply supply a reference image and watch the magic unfold. You can vary the level of enhancement by specifying the weight of the original image, much like other text-to-image software, but it takes that incredible technology a step further. For example, you can completely change the image’s subject while retaining its composition, style, and coloring.

    AI-Suggested Content

    AI suggested content

As writers, we know that writer’s block is a very real issue. Thanks to Divi AI, you’ll never have to worry about that. As previously mentioned, Divi AI analyzes your content, then makes suggestions to improve it. This ensures your content will be fresh, creative, and on-brand. With Divi AI, you can refine your content, expand it, shorten it, change the tone, and more.

How To Use Divi AI to Improve Your Copy

To demonstrate how powerful Divi AI is, we will show you all that Divi can do to improve your website’s copy. The process is simple, so building a new website or modifying an existing one is a snap.

One of the most impressive features of Divi AI is how easily you can generate images. There are several ways to create images, including refining and modifying existing images and automatic image generation. Let’s briefly walk through the steps to create an image with Divi AI. To make things easier, we’ll start with the Bake Shop Layout Pack for Divi, but you can follow along with the layout of your choice.

    Getting Started with Divi AI

As previously mentioned, Divi AI works within the Visual Builder. Click the Enable Visual Builder button to get started.

    Enable Divi Visual Builder

To generate a new image, click on an existing image module, or add another one. To edit an image, hover over an image module and click the grey settings icon to edit it.

    Edit image module

With the image module open, hover over the image until the AI icon appears.

Click on it, then select Generate with AI.

    Divi AI Image Settings

You’ll need to familiarize yourself with a few settings to get the most out of Divi AI image generation. They are as follows:

    1. Image style: Allows you to set a style for your image. Settings include photo, digital painting, concept art, vector graphic, 3D render, drawing, abstract art, comic book, watercolor, painting, anime, cartoon, or none.
    2. Image description: Here, you can input a text prompt to create your image or allow Divi AI to create a prompt for you.
    3. Reference image: If you’d like your image to be based on a particular look or style, you can upload a reference image here.
    4. Aspect ratio: Choose from square (1:1), landscape (8:5), portrait (3:4), or add a custom size.
    5. Size: Set a custom size for your image.
    6. Generate: Creates a generated image with artificial intelligence.

    Using a Reference Image

In addition to generating an image from scratch, you can use a reference image to steer Divi AI in the right direction. To do this, click the upload a reference image button.

    reference image

This will open the WordPress media gallery so you can upload an image for Divi AI to analyze. Once uploaded, the image generation settings change slightly. You can still choose an image style and enter a prompt. Along with that, a new setting for reference image influence will appear. You can adjust the sliding scale from 0-100%, with higher values resulting in images closely related to the referenced image.

    image influence

Using the image example from the photo above, we’ll add the following prompt: soft baked pretzel, set in a busy bakery shop display case. Set the image style to photo and the reference image influence to 50%. Here’s the result:

    pretzel images

If you are satisfied with the results, click the image you prefer, then click the use this image button (1) to insert it into the image module. If you’d like to generate more results, click the generate more like this one button (2).

    select generated image

Improving an Existing Image with Divi AI

Another excellent feature of Divi AI image generation is the ability to improve on existing images. Most freelancers and web agency owners know the challenge of obtaining suitable client images. Thanks to Divi AI, there is no longer a need to worry about that. To improve an existing image, click inside the image module and hover over the AI icon like before. However, you’ll select the improve with AI option this time.

    improve with AI

When the dialog box appears, you’ll notice that the current image is set as a reference image. You can choose your image style, add a description, and set the reference image influence.

Top Tips for Divi AI Image Prompting

Now that you understand the basics of image generation with Divi AI, let’s review some tips and best practices to improve your images through good prompts.

    Form the Perfect Prompt

One thing to keep in mind is that the order matters. Words placed at the beginning of a prompt are weighed more heavily than ones used towards the end, so be sure to put your most important descriptors first. The best way to craft the perfect prompt is to follow this rule: Image style > description > details > composition.

    • Image Style: What type of artwork do you want to achieve? Is it a photograph, drawing, drawing, 3D render, etc.?
    • Description: State the subject, its attributes, environment, and scene. The more descriptive you are, the better the output.
    • Details: Think lighting, photography style, artist, etc.
    • Composition: Camera angle, resolution, etc.

For example, using the prompt a dog will produce good results but will likely be devoid of other elements in the photo. Alternatively, using the prompt golden retriever, sitting on a boat dock looking out at the water, mountain backdrop, blue sky, cinematic lighting, award-winning photography, full depth of field, 4k resolution gives Divi AI plenty of information to create a complete scene.

    Divi AI prompt

    Choose an Art Style

    Divi AI styles

One of the most basic steps for successfully creating images is to choose a style for your image. As previously mentioned, multiple styles allow you to create any image you want. We used the same prompt to demonstrate the different styles and only changed the image style. Here are the results:

    Divi AI styles

    Use a Reference Image

If you have an image in mind that needs to be corrected, try using a reference image to guide Divi AI. When using this feature, be sure to upload a high-quality image. Uploading small pixelated photos won’t work as well, often resulting in lower quality results. That said, remember that the larger the picture, the longer it takes to generate one with Divi AI. Try to keep your reference images under 200kb for the best results. Using large images on your web pages can slow them down, potentially hurting your site in the search engine ranking pages (SERPs).

Using this example, we took a reference image of dogs running on a beach. We left the image influence at its default setting of 30%, which resulted in the following image:

    reference image

    Specify an Aspect Ratio

By default, Divi AI will create images 512 x 512 pixels. However, additional aspect ratio settings exist for landscape, portrait, or custom dimensions. By providing an option for aspect ratios, Divi AI makes filling your web pages with images of any size easy. It allows you to create images with custom dimensions, which is perfect for hero image backgrounds, adding images into awkward spaces, and lets you avoid using photo editing software to crop them.

    aspect ratio

For the best results, it’s recommended to use 768×768 images instead of 512, which is the default. It helps avoid distorted faces. This is due to how Stable Diffusion works. Basically, if SD tries to render something complex at a small size, it gets distorted. If you make your images bigger, it helps.

    Use Descriptive Words

Another tip is to use descriptive words, such as subject, characteristics, camera angles, lighting, and the surrounding environment. The trick with prompting is to give Divi AI enough information on the type of image you want without overwhelming it with too many words. Unlike blog posts or other content, generative AI doesn’t need you to write a book to create a gorgeous image. Be concise yet descriptive for the best results.

For example, we provided Divi AI with two different prompts for a pirate ship so you can see the difference a few descriptive words make:

    Divi AI descriptive prompt

To help you navigate using descriptive words with Divi AI, we’ve created a handy table that contains different words to consider using to boost Divi’s AI image generation output.

PHOTOS/CAMERA ANGLES CONCEPT ART DIGITAL PAINTING LIGHTING DESCRIPTORS
    headshot warrior hyper-realistic sun light
low angle cyborg still-life soft light
candid cyber punk textured golden hour
    photorealistic villain pastel colors twilight
soft focus movie concept art bokeh moon light
    closeup cinematic composition brushstrokes midday
sideview Illustration style visible brushstrokes dusk
4k, 8k resolution 2D note a famous artist (Picasso, Ansel Adams, etc) glowing
full depth of field expansive Digital art style sunset
shallow depth of field cinema style tranquil atmosphere cinematic lighting
sharp focus bioluminescence detailed face studio lighting
award winning photography epic intricate details accent lighting
studio photography moody, gloomy unreal engine 5 volumetric fog
highly detailed video game art backlit dramatic lighting

    Be Specific

Some AI art generators, such as Midjourney, don’t require as many specifics as others. This isn’t the case with Divi AI. You can be as specific as you want. In fact, the more specifics you add, the better your image will be. Just remember to avoid being repetitive and follow the perfect prompt rule: Image style > description > details > composition.

    Context (and Content) Matter

When using Divi AI to generate images, it’s important to remember one key aspect. It can be hard to get a subject that is out of place to assume a given style. For example, it’s hard to get a cat to be drawn in the style of a comic book because there aren’t really any cat comic books out there. On the other hand, two might fighting in space in the comic book style works quite well.

    Divi AI combic book style

Similarly, the prompt a wooden hut in mystical fairy mushroom land works great when using Divi AI’s digital painting style.

    digital painting style

    Divi AI Image Prompt Examples

To demonstrate the power of Divi AI’s image generation, we’ve added some examples and their prompts.

    Divi AI examples

Image 1 Prompt: Modern interior design, chalet, living room, wide windows with a view, mountains, wood floor, modern furniture.
Image 2 Prompt: Rustic backyard, fire pit, wicker patio furniture, wood ceiling, large oak trees, 8k resolution.

    Divi AI astronaut

Prompt: Female astronaut, wearing helmet and visor, Earth in the background, reflection, stars, sharp focus, full depth of field.

    Divi AI beach scenes

Image 1 Prompt: Bioluminescence, set at midnight on a beach, moonlight, blue glowing light.
Image 2 Prompt: Realistic beach landscape, high tide, teal water, colorful pebbles on the sand, Canon EOS R6.

    Divi AI watercolor

Prompt: watercolor painting of an owl sitting on a branch, mid-day lighting, wide angle.

    Divi AI animals

Image 1 Prompt: Red fox in nature, National Geographic, highly detailed fur, hyper-realistic photography, cinematic lighting, full depth of field.

  • Divi Product Highlight: TablePress Styler

TablePress Styler is a third-party plugin for Divi that adds lots of styling options to TablePress, a popular table-making plugin for WordPress. TablePress Styler not only gives you styling options but also makes TablePress easier to use with Divi. In this post, we’ll look at TablePress Styler to see how it works with TablePress to help you decide if it’s the right product for your needs.

Create TablePress Table for TablePress Styler

First, you’ll need to create the tables that you’ll use with TablePress Styler. TablePress Styler doesn’t create tables. Instead, it styles tables that were created in TablePress. It requires the TablePress plugin and works as a Divi addon to TablePress. Once you’ve made your tables in TablePress, use TablePress Styler to customize the styles of those tables with the Divi Builder.

In this example, I’ve created a sample table using labels from the free Email Marketing Layout Pack.

Create TablePress Table for TablePress Styler

I’ll use the styles from the landing page of that layout pack to create my examples.

Create TablePress Table for TablePress Styler

    TablePress Styler Divi Module

TablePress Styler adds a new module to the Divi Builder. Normally, tables in TablePress are added with shortcodes. With TablePress Styler, you won’t need to add the table separately. This module adds it for you. This makes the tables easier to use with the Divi Builder.

    TablePress Styler Divi Module

The first option in the TablePress Styler settings includes a dropdown box where you can select your table. Opening the dropdown box shows all the tables you’ve created in TablePress. Select the table you want to display.

    TablePress Styler Divi Module

The table displays exactly the way you created it in the TablePress editor.

    Table ID

    Table ID

You have full control over the design of the table. You can make design adjustments without having to go back to the TablePress editor. Adjust the setup, elements, columns, rows, parameters, buttons, and more. Some of the settings require TablePress Pro (or Max) or a TablePress extension. We’ll look at the features that work with the free version of TablePress.

    Table ID

    Setup

Setup adjusts the headers, footer, and row header. You can enable or disable them in any combination. You can also enable sorting and scrolling. I’ve enabled all of them in this example. I’ll leave them enabled throughout these examples to show the module’s options.

    Setup

    Elements

Elements let you move or disable the table name and description. You can also enable search, information, pagination, and a selector. If you enable pagination, you can specify the number of entries to show on each page. The header and footer are not counted in the number of entries. I’ve enabled them all in this example, changed pagination to 2, and moved the name below the table and the description above the table.

    Elements

    Columns

Columns let you set the width of each column. Specify the width in pixels, percentages, etc. You can also specify columns to hide or show. I’ve hidden rows 2 and 5 in this example. I’ve moved the title back to the top and left the description in its new location under the title.

    Columns

    Rows

Rows let you specify which rows you’d like to show or hide. I’ve hidden row 3 in this example.

    Rows

    TablePress Pro Options

In the TablePress Styler plugin, Parameters is an advanced feature that requires knowledge of table parameters. The features that require TablePress Pro (or Max) include buttons, responsive tables, counter columns, fixed rows, fixed columns, row order, row filtering, column filtering, and column filter dropdowns. Auto URL conversion requires the TablePress Automatic URL Conversion extension.

    TablePress Pro Options

    TablePress Styler Design Settings

Every element includes independent design settings, allowing you to customize the TablePress tables with the Divi Builder. I’ll customize the table using design queues from the layout pack.

    TablePress Styler Design Settings

    TablePress Styler Name

Aside from header levels, the table name settings include all of the standard text settings. In this example, I’ve changed the font, font weight, color, and size. It now matches the H2 settings used in this layout pack.

    TablePress Styler Name

    TablePress Styler Description

The description includes the same options as the name text. In the example below, I’ve styled the description to match the blurbs in the row above the table. I’ve changed the font, weight, and color.

    TablePress Styler Description

    TablePress Styler Elements

Elements also include the standard font options. I’ve adjusted the font, weight, and color for this example. The search, pagination, and similar text now match the secondary headings from the layout pack.

    TablePress Styler Elements

    Spacing

Spacing allows you to adjust the gaps of all the elements including the name, description, search, information, pagination, and pagination selector. I’ve adjusted all of the settings in this example to spread the text apart a little further.

    Spacing

    Cells

Cells let you change the horizontal and vertical alignment, padding, and background color of the cells. I’ve added padding and changed the background color to black. This background color will be easier to read once I change the font colors.

    Cells

    Text

The text settings control the text within the cells. I’ve made the text style match the description text.

    Text

    Header

The header settings include the background and font settings. I’ve adjusted the background color, font color, and text alignment in this example.

    Header

    Footer

The footer settings follow the header settings and include the background and font colors. I’ve adjusted the background color, font color, and alignment in this example.

    Footer

    Row Header

The row header also includes the settings for the background and font colors, alignment, etc. I’ve adjusted the background color and font color in this example.

    Row Header

    Icons

You can also add icons to your table. Add them to the cells in the TablePress editor. The TablePress Styler sales page includes a link to the icons you can use and includes the shortcodes for each icon.

    Icons

Select the icons and adjust their sizes and colors within the TablePress Styler Module. I’ve increased the size of the icons and changed their color to black.

    Icon settings

    Buttons

Add buttons to the TablePress cells with the button shortcode. You can also add a custom link to the shortcode. I’ve added them to the footer in my example.

    Buttons

Once you have buttons in your table, you can customize them with the module’s button settings. Adjust the background, text, border colors, border radius, padding, margin, shadow, and lots more. I’ve adjusted most of these settings in the example.

    Button styling

    Colors

Colors let you adjust the color or tint of the alternating rows. You can also disable the alternating color if you want all the rows to show the same color. Adjust the options of the row, hover, and sorting separately. This example shows the tint options. I’ve adjusted the tint for the alternating rows.

    Table Colors

For colors, you can have them multiply or not. If you choose to use multiply, as seen in the example below, to create grey backgrounds, the colors blend.

    TablePress color multiply

    Borders

Borders let you specify horizontal and vertical borders, choose inner or outer borders, and adjust the width, color, and style. This example shows all borders disabled for both horizontal and vertical.

    Borders

The example below includes an inner vertical border. I’ve disabled the horizontal border. I’ve also increased the width, changed the color to white, and selected Groove for the style. This creates a set of cards that could be used for pricing tables, stats, etc.

    Border styles

    TablePress Styler Design Results

Here’s how the table looks within the Divi layout. This is only a small portion of the layout to keep the image smaller. I was able to get the styles I wanted with no trouble. Everything was intuitive. It works well with both TablePress and Divi.

    TablePress design example

As an added bonus, here are a couple more styling examples based on Divi Layout Packs. The first one is styled to match the Attorney Layout Pack for Divi:

    Attorney Layout Pack for Divi

Finally, here is an example of a table made to look like an event list using the Music Venue Layout Pack for Divi.

    Music Venue TablePress example

    Where to Purchase TablePress Styler

TablePress Styler is available in the Divi Marketplace for $39. It includes unlimited usage, one year of support and updates, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

    Ending Thoughts on TablePress Styler

That’s our look at TablePress Styler for TablePress and Divi. TablePress Styler works well to bring all three together. The design settings give you lots of control over the table designs and customizations. All of the settings are as intuitive as any Divi Module. If you use TablePress and Divi, TablePress Styler is a must-own plugin for your Divi toolbox.

  • What Can AI Do? 15 Common Uses in 2023

With all the talk of artificial intelligence (AI) over the last year, it’s hard not to get excited about the future. As a creative, you might ask yourself, What can AI do? In this post, we’ll discuss fifteen creative ways to incorporate AI into the creative process so you can increase productivity and spark creativity, all while using this new technology responsibly. Let’s get started.

    What is AI?

    what can AI do

image created with Midjourney | Photoshop

AI is the process of teaching computer systems how to perform human tasks. These can be anything from processing data to using complex systems to build automobiles. It incorporates several types, including narrow, general, and super AI. Currently, most AI software is based on weak AI, which uses machine and deep learning.

    What is Machine Learning?

    machine learning

image created with Midjourney | Photoshop

Machine learning involves computer systems utilizing deep learning to process specific data. These systems can identify patterns and gain insights by analyzing data and experiences rather than relying on programming. These algorithms can adapt and refine their output with new data over time. For instance, ChatGPT‘s training utilized over 570 GB of information, far surpassing what a human mind can grasp. As a result of its training, it can answer questions, write stories, and have dialogue with humans all on its own.

    What is Deep Learning?

    deep learning

    image created with Midjourney

Deep learning is a type of machine learning that can handle various data types, such as images or text, with little help from humans. It uses neural networks, much like brain synapses in humans. These networks go through hundreds, or even thousands, of training rounds to understand complex data features. Once trained, AI can make accurate determinations about the observed data and use that knowledge to make decisions about new data. For example, AI can identify bananas in every image containing one after learning what a banana looks like.

    What is Generative AI?

    what can AI do

    images created with Midjourney

Generative AI is an incredible technology incorporating machine learning to produce original content, such as text, images, or music, without relying on predefined examples. It achieves these feats by learning patterns and structures based on large amounts of data, then generating new output. This type of AI is used to create images, text, and other creative work.

    What Can AI Do?

Thanks to generative AI, you have the power to create art, music, and videos effortlessly. You can even design a personalized avatar for your social media profiles and so much more. If you ever need help getting organized, AI can lend a hand with that too! Let’s explore all the fantastic ways AI can save time, spark creativity, and streamline workflow.

    1. Create Audio

    Mubert - Homepage June 2023

If you are looking for ways to insert audio into your website or creative projects, artificial intelligence can help. Thanks to AI music generators, audio tools, and voice generators, you can add a soundtrack to a podcast, add a voice overlay to marketing videos, and even create your own music to enhance projects.

For example, using Mubert, you can easily generate music with a text prompt and a few clicks. We used the prompt alluring background music and created this 20-second clip in less than a minute.

    2. Keep Track of Your Business

    Tykr financial AI

Running a business is time-consuming, especially if it’s a one-person operation. Thanks to advancements in artificial intelligence, hiring a human to assist you is no longer required. Whether you need help writing a blog post, managing appointments, or financial tips, AI assistants can help with several tasks to help you be more productive. For example, using a financial assistant, such as Tykr, you can manage your stock portfolio, get insights on investment opportunities, and learn the basics of investing.

    3. Create Avatars

    Lensa AI

AI avatar generators are all the rage right now. Thanks to companies like Picsart, Lensa AI, and Synthesia, you can create static and video avatars. Whether you’re looking to establish a more professional representation for your company, revamp your social media avatars, or even fashion lifelike 3D avatars for marketing videos or online business chat, these tools have you covered.

    4. Help with Branding

    what AI can do

If you’re looking to rebrand your current business or start a new venture, artificial intelligence can help. There are some great logo generators to spark creativity and fantastic features available through companies like Wix Logo Generator that will make you feel like a graphic design professional in no time. Whether you want to create social media posts or build out your brand standards, branding has never been easier.

    5. Sales and Marketing Tools

    Seamless AI

If you want to create leads and grow revenue, some excellent AI sales and marketing tools help you take your business to the next level. These tools can help you build an email list, reach out to them with video assets, and explore opportunities to analyze your client interactions. For example, using Seamless.AI‘s built-in search engine, you can leverage the power of AI to update your contact lists with the most up-to-date contact information. Additionally, using software such as Ocoya, you can create social media posts and schedule them, giving you more time to focus on other aspects of your business.

    6. Assist in Image Editing

    Photoshop AI

    image created with Photoshop AI

If you’re a freelancer or web agency owner, you know how challenging it can be to get good client photos. Thankfully, artificial intelligence can turn you into a photo editing wizard while saving a ton of time. Whether you’re looking to upscale images, enhance them, or create new compositions with Photoshop, image editing tools help you finish the job quickly.

    7. Have In-Depth Conversations

  • How to Detect AI Writing in 2023

Since the release of ChatGPT in late 2022, artificial intelligence (AI) has exploded. There are AI programs for creating art, voices, videos, writing, and much more. AI can be an excellent companion to boost productivity and spark creativity. However, as with any new tech, some people will take advantage of it in unethical ways. In this post, we’ll explore the world of AI and offer some tips on how to detect AI writing.

    Let’s get started.

    What is AI Writing?

    detect AI writing

image created with Midjourney | Photoshop AI

AI writing is the use of artificial intelligence to create original content through language models, such as ChatGPT. All you need to do is enter a text prompt describing the type of content you want, and AI will provide that content in seconds. While AI-assisted writing has been around for a few years, it has exploded over the last year. There are dozens of AI writing software programs available, each with its own niche. They can create blog outlines, eye-catching headlines, complete blog posts, and more. As the technology continues to evolve, being able to detect AI writing will become harder. However, in recent months, several AI content detectors have been released that can help spot artificially generated content.

    How Do AI Writers Work?

Most AI writers are based on generative pre-trained transformer 3 (GPT3) by OpenAI, which uses a large language model (LLC) algorithm. LLMs work by using the dataset it was trained on to string together sentences by predicting which words are likely to be placed next to one another while keeping the context. In most cases, AI gets it right. However, there are times when hallucinations or falsehoods occur. Generally, this happens about 20% of the time.

When using generative AI to write content, there are a few things to keep in mind. In the case of ChatGPT, its dataset is based on about 570GB of information scraped from the internet through September 2021. This includes blogs, books, search results, and other relevant information. Therefore, if you ask questions about anything beyond 2021, it will usually generate incorrect output. That’s why it’s incredibly important to not only fact-check everything it generates but essentially never to copy what it gives you word for word.

    Challenges of AI Writing

AI writing tools can help boost productivity and creativity and help those with little to no writing skills be better content creators. However, they do present challenges. With the improvements to AI text generators, it will become increasingly difficult to tell the difference between human and computer-written content. AI-written content can seem emotionless, lack creative input, and is limited to the dataset it is trained on. While OpenAI states that generated content is original, it does use word association and pulls its information from data across the internet. Because of that, there are concerns about plagiarism, false information, and copyright infringement.

Without checks and balances, some people will use AI irresponsibly, requiring businesses to take extra steps to ensure employees use AI responsibly and ethically. Thankfully, there are a few things to look out for when detecting AI writing.

    How To Detect AI Writing

Even with good AI detection tools, there will never be 100% certainty that they will catch every bit of AI-generated content. Therefore, it’s important to identify it in other ways.

    Tone and Style

One of the biggest issues with AI content is how inconsistent the tone and style can be. While AI models have made incredible progress over the last year, they still struggle with producing human-like content. Mostly, this can be attributed to the data that GPT3 models were trained on. As previously mentioned, when LLMs make content, they use association to determine the probability of word placement. Therefore, the output is often strung together, giving it a lack of transition words or varying tones, making it almost robotic. Let’s use ChatGPT as an example.

We provided the prompt: Write one paragraph about ocean animals.

    ChatGPT produced this:

    ChatGPT detect AI writing

It’s tricky to determine AI-generated content using this method, but there’s one thing to remember. When people write, there are usually varying tones and styles throughout the text, whereas computers don’t. There are often shifts in thought patterns in humans, resulting in a change in tone. With computers, they output content contained within their dataset, resulting in a more uniform result.

    Accuracy

Another red flag is a lack of accuracy. We touched on this earlier in this post, but it’s important to expand on it. As previously noted, ChatGPT was trained on a huge amount of data through 2021. Therefore, the results will undoubtedly be skewed if asked about current events or information after that date. So, when reading content on the internet, it’s imperative to fact-check everything. Recent updates to ChatGPT include verbiage indicating that the answer is relevant as of September 2021 when asking questions about current events. Keep in mind, however, that even though this update is helpful, it is still possible to get output that isn’t accurate.

Using ChatGPT, we entered the following prompt: provide one paragraph explaining what character AI is.

    This was the output:

    detect AI writing

We were trying to trick it into giving us false information by asking about Character AI. ChatGPT did its best to inform us what it thought Character AI was, considering the platform wasn’t publically available until a year later.

    Lack of Personal Touch

A great way to spot computer-created content is by noting a lack of personal opinion or emotion. Most human writers will incorporate slang or provide personal opinions throughout their writing. Alternatively, computers are more matter-of-fact, only presenting you with an answer. You usually won’t find any emotions or beliefs.

For example, we asked ChatGPT to provide one paragraph on Synthesia’s AI avatars.

    This was its output:

    AI personal touch

While it did a good job of explaining what the company does with AI avatars, it seems very monotone, lacking emotion or depth.

    Repetitive Language

Another way to spot AI-generated content is through repetitive language. If you notice a lot of keyword stuffing in an article, chances are it was created by artificial intelligence. Since people use prompts to generate AI output, they often include keywords in the prompt. This generally results in instances where that word is repeated over and over throughout the text.

For example, we asked ChatGPT to provide us with an explanation of AI. This was the result:

    repetitive language

It produced around 250 words, with the word AI repeated 16 times. According to a popular SEO plugin, Yoast SEO, there should only be 8 instances of that keyword in that amount of text.

    AI Content Detection Tools

Finally, you can use an AI content detection tool to help identify computer-generated content. They analyze text using context to understand the likelihood of words appearing together. The more predictable the pattern, the more likely it’s AI-generated. Unlike humans, AI typically does not write more creative sentences, is more predictable, and doesn’t offer opinions.

There are several AI content detection tools for both text and images, with some of the more popular ones being Originality AI and GPTZero. In the next section, we’ll give you a brief overview of how each works and how to use it.

Using Originality.ai to Detect AI Writing

    Originality.ai

We’ll input a few paragraphs of a news article pulled from Google into the scanner to test the functionality. To start a scan, paste the text into the editor (1). Next, click scan now (2). You can enter a title or let Originality.ai create one for you (3).

    start new scan

Once the scan is complete, Originality.ai will grade your content and determine if it’s human, partial, or completely AI. In this example, Originality’s scanner noted a 100% original score.

    100% human score

Let’s try another example with a paragraph completely generated with ChatGPT.

    ChatGPT content

As you can see, the results are pretty accurate. However, it’s important to detect AI with a trained eye and use an AI detection tool to get the best results.

Using GPTZero to Detect AI Writing

    GPTZero

Let’s use another popular AI content detector, GPTZero. This one allows you to detect up to 5000 characters for free. You can purchase additional characters by signing up for an account. Scanning text is easy using GPTZero. Paste the text (1) you want to scan or upload a file (2), accept the terms of service (3), then click the get results button (4).

    GPTZero interface

Using the first paragraph of our Divi page, GPTZero lets us know that our text is likely to be written entirely by a human:

    GPTZero result

Finally, let’s use the text we generated using ChatGPT:

    ChatGPT example

Although it couldn’t identify that the content was completely generated using AI, it did pick up that it was likely used.

Final Thoughts on Detecting AI Writing

AI writing has rapidly evolved since the release of ChatGPT, becoming an integral part of how content is created. Although there are benefits to using it, it’s important to be able to recognize AI content. With the technology advancing at a rapid rate, being able to detect AI writing will continue to be difficult. By recognizing inconsistencies like inconsistent tone and style, lack of emotion, and repetitive language, you can train your eyes to pinpoint where AI is used. Additionally, you can incorporate an AI detection tool like Originality.ai or GPTZero to help identify it.

  • How to Secure Your WordPress Website in 2023 (Detailed Tutorial)

WordPress has become one of the world’s most popular content management systems (CMS), with over 44% of websites built on it. As with any online platform, security should be at the top of your list of concerns. In this post, we’ll examine WordPress security concerns and provide tips on how to keep your WordPress website safe and secure.

    Let’s dive in.

    Is WordPress Secure?

    WordPress.org

For the most part, yes. WordPress developers work hard to maintain the security of their platform through patches and updates occurring regularly. However, since WordPress is built on an open-source framework, hackers can analyze how it’s constructed and frequently develop new ways to gain control of WordPress websites. Because of this, WordPress security is crucial. Knowing the risks associated with using WordPress is important to understand better how to secure your website.

    WordPress Security Concerns

When operating a WordPress website, there are several potential risks to be aware of. One of the biggest concerns is hackers. Because WordPress is so popular, it attracts the attention of nefarious actors who attempt to exploit vulnerabilities like outdated plugins or core files to gain unauthorized access to your site. They can employ methods such as backdoors, launching brute force attacks, pharma attacks, denial of service (DoS) attacks, or cross-site scripting (XSS).

If left unresolved, there can be serious consequences, such as malware (malicious code designed to steal your site’s visitor information), forwarding your website to a completely different one, adding content you’re unaware of, Google warnings that can hurt your position in the SERPs, or worse, being unable to log in to your website.

How to Secure Your WordPress Website

The following section will explore best practices to enhance WordPress security to protect your website against potential threats.

WordPress Security: Choose Good WordPress Hosting

The first step to take is partnering with a good WordPress hosting company. With so many choices available, it can be difficult to determine how to choose the right host. If you’re a beginner, it’s probably best to opt for a good managed hosting provider, such as SiteGround, that will provide all security updates for WordPress, while also maintaining the server it’s installed on. For those who are more tech-savvy, a cloud hosting provider, such as Cloudways, is an excellent choice.

    SiteGround WordPress hosting

Either option will give you all the tools you need to ensure your website is safe and secure, including:

    Keep Your WordPress Login Secure

Another easy thing you can do to boost your WordPress security is to lock down your login credentials. This can be done in several ways, including using a plugin to change the login URL from /wp-admin to something of your choosing. You can also add two-factor authentication (2FA) to your login and limit login attempts, which will help repel bots.

    Google apps login

Another way to protect your login is by linking it to your Google account using the Google Apps Login for WordPress. Once your login is locked down, you should whitelist your users’ IP addresses. This ensures that only registered users can get in, even if they have managed to figure out your password.

Use a Suite of WordPress Security Plugins

Another very useful thing you can do is to install a good security plugin, such as iThemes Security. It will allow you to add 2FA, limit login attempts, schedule backups, and hide your WordPress login.

    ithemes security plugin

In addition to a WordPress security plugin, consider installing a good backup plugin, like UpdraftPlus, if your host doesn’t offer backups. A backup plugin protects you from losing your site’s files, helping you to avoid rebuilding WordPress from scratch. You can easily restore your site with little effort if something goes wrong. Finally, incorporating an activity log plugin like WP Activity Log will allow you to pinpoint what went wrong and when.

    Keep PHP Updated

WordPress requires three things to work correctly: PHP, MySQL, and HTTPS support. PHP, or hypertext preprocessor, is a popular open-source scripting language used in web development and is the backbone of WP. Like WordPress, being open source leaves it open for malicious actors looking to take advantage. To avoid these potential issues, it’s best to keep PHP updated. Not only does it help with WordPress security, but it also keeps your site running optimally.

    How PHP works

    Choose Strong Passwords

One of the most important aspects of WordPress security is choosing strong passwords for login. Weak or easily guessable passwords leave your site vulnerable to unauthorized access and expose your site to botnets. Botnets are a collection of computers that have been infected by malware and come under the control of a hacker. They are the leading cause of DDoS attacks on the internet, but you can prevent your site from falling victim to them by taking the correct precautions.

    Password policy maker plugin

For example, you can protect your site by ensuring all users adhere to a password policy. One great way to do this is by installing a plugin like Password Policy Maker.

    WordPress Security: Keep Software Updated

Another simple step in WordPress security is keeping your WordPress core, plugins, and themes updated. Leaving software out of date can have negative consequences on your website, including security breaches, the WordPress white screen of death, or any number of common errors.

You can either keep up with updates on your own or enable automatic updates. What is right for you depends on several factors, including time, expertise, and the type of software your WordPress install runs. Regardless of whether you handle updates or choose to update automatically, you should always make a backup before performing any updates.

    Install SSL Certificate

If you partner with a good hosting provider, one of the benefits that come with it is a free SSL certificate. However, there may be situations where you’ll need to install one yourself. Most providers, like SiteGround, offer a free SSL that installs in a few minutes. As you read this, you might ask , “Why do I need an SSL certificate?”. Let’s explain.

    SSL certificate WordPress security

image courtesy of Valery Brozhinsky | Shutterstock.com

SSL, or secure socket layer, expands the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) to hypertext transfer protocol secure (HTTPS), adding encryption and an extra layer of security. For example, a consumer who makes a purchase over HTTP risks their credit card information being exploited. On the other hand, their information would be protected if they had made the same purchase over HTTPS. Your site and its visitors are exposed and vulnerable without that secure connection. That’s why installing an SSL certificate on any new website is crucial.

    Conduct a Security Audit

Once you’ve taken steps to secure your site, it’s important to conduct a WordPress security audit occasionally. Just as technology changes daily, so does a hacker’s arsenal of tools. Malware and other tactics are developed regularly, so securing your WordPress website isn’t a one-and-done deal. Schedule regular security checks, and look for signs that your site may be in trouble. If you notice your site loading slowly, your traffic drops, you discover new links you didn’t add, or you experience excessive login attempts, it may be time to run a security scan to ensure your site remains safe and secure.

    Advanced WordPress Security Techniques

In addition to the steps listed above, there are a few more advanced techniques to incorporate into your site to enhance WordPress security.

    Harden the wp-config.php File

One common point of entry for hackers is your WordPress website’s wp-config.php file. It houses information about your database, including the name, host, username, and password. Leaving this important file open can prove detrimental, so hiding it is always a good idea.

    Move Your wp-config.php File

To move wp-config, you can drag it into your site’s root folder (public HTML), and WordPress will look for it whenever the site is pinged. However, if your site’s file structure includes a htaccess file, you can further protect it by adding a directive to deny access to it by using the following code:

    <FilesMatch "wp-config/.php">
    Require all denied
    </FilesMatch">

Note: Before doing this, ensure your hosting provider hasn’t already taken steps to move your wp-config file for you. Some hosts, such as Kinsta, do this automatically to keep your site safe.

    Change WordPress Salt Keys

    WordPress salt keys

Another way to protect your wp-config file is by altering your site’s salt keys. These keys add an extra layer of protection while saving passwords to your database, signing in to cookies, and other important WordPress security aspects. If hackers can obtain your salt keys, they can access your site’s database and files, including stored credit card information, passwords, and other important information. Therefore, it’s recommended to change them periodically.

    Change File Permissions

By default, files in your root directory are set to 644, which means they are both readable and writable, leaving them vulnerable to bad actors. According to WordPress, these should not be left at default permissions. Rather, they should be changed to 440 or 400 to prevent others on the same server from reading them. However, it’s important to check with your hosting provider before making any changes to your file permissions. They may have a unique system in place, so changing permissions could cause disruption to your site.

    Disable XML-RPC

XML-RPC is a WordPress API that allows you to connect your website to third-party apps and tools. In recent years, it has been exploited by brute force attacks, allowing access to WordPress sites. It is primarily used for making Zapier connections or accessing your site remotely through an app. You should disable XML-RPC on your server if you aren’t using any of these connections.

There are several ways to do this, including disabling it through htaccess, using a code snippet, or with a plugin. The most advanced method, htaccess, can be tricky for beginners, so the most recommended approach is to use a code snippet.

For the htaccess method, use an FTP client to access your site’s files, then add the following code to your htaccess file:

    # Block WordPress xmlrpc.php requests
    <Files xmlrpc.php>
    order deny, allow
     deny from all
    allow from 123.123.123.123
    </Files>

Note: Be sure to change the IP 123.123.123.123 with your own.

Alternatively, you can use the AIOSEO plugin’s tools htaccess tab to insert the code:

    AIOSEO

If you’d rather disable XML-PRC using a code snippet, you can easily accomplish it using the WPCode plugin. It has a built-in snippet that you can use to disable the API.

    disable XML-PRC

    Hide WordPress Version

This is an often overlooked step when it comes to WordPress security, but an important one. By default, WordPress leaves a footprint in your site’s code that shows which version is installed. This might seem harmless, but by accessing the website’s source code, hackers can determine what version of WordPress you’re running. If it’s outdated, they can use that info to hack into your site by injecting malware or malicious scripts.

    hide WordPress version

So, as an extra WordPress security measure, hide your site’s WordPress version to make it harder for hackers to take control of your site. There are good ways to do this. You can either implement a code snippet plugin that will remove the line in the source code or create a child theme and place it into your functions.php file.

    function elegantthemes_remove_version() {
    return '';
    }
    add_filter('the_generator', 'elegantthemes_remove_version');

Alternatively, if you’d like to remove the WP version in the meta tag, in database query strings, and in RSS feeds, use this code:

/* Hide WP version strings from scripts and styles
    * @return {string} $src
    * @filter script_loader_src
    * @filter style_loader_src
    */
    function elegantthemes_remove_wp_version_strings( $src ) {
    global $wp_version;
    parse_str(parse_url($src, PHP_URL_QUERY), $query);
    if ( !empty($query['ver']) && $query['ver'] === $wp_version ) {
    $src = remove_query_arg('ver', $src);
    }
    return $src;
    }
    add_filter( 'script_loader_src', 'elegantthemes_remove_wp_version_strings' );
    add_filter( 'style_loader_src', 'elegantthemes_remove_wp_version_strings' );

/* Hide WP version strings from generator meta tag */
    function wordpress_remove_version() {
    return '';
    }
    add_filter('the_generator', 'elegantthemes_remove_version');

What to Do if Your WordPress Website is Hacked

Even if you do everything right, you may find yourself in a situation where your website has been hacked. Thankfully, there are steps you can take, including putting your site into recovery mode, restoring from your most recent backup, or resetting your passwords. If all else fails, your hosting provider may be able to help.

    Final Thoughts on WordPress Security

By taking the necessary steps to boost your WordPress security, you can ensure your site continues to operate normally while being safe for your visitors. While WordPress offers tremendous benefits and ease of use, it’s important to understand its shortcomings. Thankfully, there are a number of WordPress security plugins like iThemes that can help keep things on track.

The history of AI art can be traced back to 1973 when a computer scientist and artist named Harold Cohen created the first known AI art creation program, AARON. 41 years later, in 2014, generative adversarial networks (GANs) were developed. While not developed solely for creating artwork, GANs play a huge role in its creation today.

In 2015, researchers began training a computer to use a text prompt to generate images. They did this by reversing the process of image to text, which you might be familiar with. Have you ever noticed how your iPhone can identify objects in your pictures, then categorize them? That’s a good example of image-to-text.

Flash forward to 2021, when the first major text-to-image software, DALL-E, was released. Created by Open AI (makers of ChatGPT) and named after the painter Salvador Dali and Pixar’s WALL-E, it was the first program to be trained on millions of images and concepts. Thanks to the release of DALL-E, the AI text-to-image boom was born.

In 2022, a community of open-source developers began building AI art generators, grabbing whatever technology they could get their hands on. Some of those developers eventually went on to work on developing Midjourey, which we’ll feature a bit later in this post.

    What is a GAN?

    what is a GAN

    image created with Midjourney

A GAN consists of two main parts: a generator and a discriminator. The generator’s job is to create new data, such as images, music, or text, while the discriminator’s role is to determine if the generated data is real or fake. The generator creates random data, such as an image. Then it presents the image to the discriminator, which tries to guess whether it’s real or fake. Initially, the generator isn’t very good, so the discriminator can easily spot the fakes. However, both parts learn from their mistakes and get better over time.

The generator tries different variations of its output, and the discriminator becomes more skilled at discerning real from fake. They continue to play this game of trying to outsmart one another. Eventually, the generator gets so good that it produces data that the discriminator can’t tell apart from the fake.

How Do AI Art Generators Work?

For an AI program to understand a wide range of prompts, it needs a large dataset of images (neural network) to work from. We’re talking hundreds of millions of images and their text descriptions. Training models scrape alt tags, captions, titles, and text descriptions from images on the internet. It’s important to note that the generated image doesn’t come from the training data. Rather, it comes from the latent space (more on that later) of the deep learning model. Deep learning models don’t see images the way we do. They see millions of pixel values for red, green, and blue (RGB).

Once the program determines how to decipher the prompt, you’ll see the result like this:

    AI end result

Generative AI uses deep machine learning to produce text from images. At first, the computer takes a guess at what your text prompt is looking for, then continues to run it repeatedly until it gets it right. The program is given variables to consider to look for metrics to match the text prompt to generate an image. For example, use the prompt a pink garden gnome. The AI will begin processing the information considering different variables such as examples of gnomes, shapes, pink images, gardens, and other variables. It makes its best guess what it thinks a pink garden gnome is.

    How Output is Generated

As algorithms go through the training data, they search for variables to improve their results and, during that process, build a multi-dimensional space that houses all of these data points. Let’s take the pink garden gnome prompt and use it as an example. Within that space, the AI will place the gnome in one dimension, the color pink in another, and a dimension for gardens. It will evaluate all the dimensions and save space amongst hundreds of dimensions for the output. This is called latent space. The more descriptive words within the prompt, the more dimensions are required.

    latent space

Before the output is complete, there is a generation step called diffusion. Using words in the text prompt and the dimensions containing images of pink, garden, and gnome, the AI produces a random image and then makes little improvements. Each adjustment makes the output image more refined and closer to the intended output.

    Generative AI explained

    What is Diffusion?

Using the garden gnome prompt example, imagine millions of pictures of gnomes, gardens, and images containing the color pink. During the process, all data points are analyzed, then an image of a gnome is produced. Diffusion begins by adding a series of transformations to the image, gradually increasing the noise. This includes transforming the photo into a pink gnome or placing it in a garden. During a series of transformational steps, the image becomes more different from the original, resulting in a unique, generated image of a pink garden gnome.

    Types of AI Art Programs

Generative AI art encompasses more than just images. It includes art forms such as avatars, videos, logos, and photo editing programs. Let’s explore each of these forms of AI art so you’ll better understand what’s possible with generative AI.

    AI Avatars

    AI avatars

An AI avatar generator creates unique avatars for social media, gaming, live-streaming, and more. Some use text-to-image, while others, like Lensa AI, let you take selfies and turn them into avatars. They can be chatbots or virtual assistants that can understand what we say or type and respond in a helpful way. They can be designed to look and act like real people, with emotions and expressions, like Synthesia. Others create 3D avatars to use as profile pictures or gamer avatars. For example, Picsart allows you to upload 10-30 images of yourself, then create a custom avatar at the click of a button.

    AI Videos

    Picture blog post to video

Anyone who’s ever created a video for a presentation or website knows what a long process it is. That’s where AI video generators can help. With a company like Pictory, you can create awesome marketing videos in a few minutes rather than days or weeks. If you want to automate the process fully, add a URL to Pictory, and it will turn your post into a functional, engaging video in a matter of minutes.

    AI Art Generators

As previously mentioned, AI art generators, or text-to-image, allow you to enter a text prompt, sit back, and watch as your image is generated before your eyes. There are dozens of text-to-image generators available, but a few more popular ones stand out. These include DALL-E 2, Midjourney, Leonardo, and Stable Diffusion.

Each one has its strengths, but some are better than others. We’ll use the same prompt to showcase the difference between platforms: a photograph of a dirt rally race car covered in dirt, moving at a fast speed, dirt flying, mountain scene, award-winning photography, soft shadows, and cinematic lighting.

    AI Art Side-by-Side Comparison

For this example, we entered the same prompt, left all settings at default, and didn’t use any other enhancements. DALL-E 2, Midjourney, and Leonardo AI are the AI art generators used.

Prompt: high-quality photograph of a dog astronaut, star and planet backdrop, cinematic lighting, helmet with face glass, wide angle.

We’ll let you judge for yourself which one did the best job.

    Other AI Use Cases

    Other AI

    image created with Midjourney

Aside from videos and images, other AI use cases can help increase your creativity and productivity, allowing you to save that time for doing other things.

    AI Logos

AI logo generators can do the job if you’re a small business owner or a creative that needs some inspiration. There are many choices, with some standouts being the Wix Logo Generator, which works inside the Wix website builder. It will create an entire logo for you, or you can start the process with AI and finish making revisions yourself. You might be asking why do I need an AI logo maker if I use an AI art generator. The answer is that it sits squarely in the middle of the struggle bus regarding creating text. It just can’t make the type legible. So, if you need a new logo for yourself or a client, check out one of the programs on our list.

    AI Music Generators

Another big move for AI has come in the form of AI music generators. Content creators looking for an easier and faster way to create soundtracks for their projects will benefit (literally) by incorporating one of these tools. For example, Mubert is a generative AI model that allows you to create music and make money. You can create a track with a text prompt, then list it on the Mubert Studio marketplace.

    AI Photo Editing

    MJ Ansel Adams

This next AI art use case allows you to enhance, modify, or manipulate images. This can include AI photo enhancers, image upscalers, or generative text-to-image add-ons like generative fill in Photoshop.

Using Photoshop AI’s text-to-image generative fill, you can add or remove elements from photos, extend the canvas, or generate entire composite images with nothing but text prompts.

    AI Website Builders

People needing a new website who don’t have the time or expertise to build it themselves can benefit from an AI website builder. Different tools can assist you with a few lines of text or creating images. If you need an entire website created from text prompts, AI models like Framer AI can handle that job.

    Using AI Art Ethically

When creating art with artificial intelligence, some ethical considerations must be made. Legal questions are being presented regarding copyright infringement. There is no precedent, so there are no clear answers on how to proceed. Some platforms, such as Adobe Firefly, have taken this into consideration. Their models were trained on royalty-free images, which should keep them out of legal hot water. Additionally, any image generated through Firefly is for entertainment purposes only. However, we anticipate that changing soon.

Before committing to a platform, research how the models were trained and gather as much information as possible. If you plan to use the art you create commercially, make sure your chosen platform supports that. Most platforms allow images to be used commercially as long as you sign up for a paid plan, but it’s always best to double-check.

    Final Thoughts on AI Art

AI art holds incredible potential. It’s poised to transform the creative industry with innovative new technologies that assist creatives in making inspiring art and pushing the boundaries of human imagination. There are incredible tools like Synthesia for creating custom interactive AI avatars to incredible images through Midjourney to explore and utilize. As long as AI is used ethically and responsibly, it is an excellent creative companion to increase productivity.
